Why we exist
Home projects are among the hardest purchases to price, because two contractors can quote wildly different numbers for the same job. The spread comes from things you cannot see: a materials-versus-labor split that shifts with your finishes, permit and inspection fees set by your local jurisdiction, regional labor rates that vary by trade, the contractor's overhead and profit markup, and the scope each bidder quietly assumed. A change order mid-project can move the total again.
So homeowners ask concrete questions: Is this bid high, or are the others missing work? How much is labor versus materials? Do I need a permit, and who pulls it? Is the contractor's markup in line with the trade? We answer those plainly so you can compare quotes line by line.
